Watch Chapelwaite premiere tonight: August 22, 2021

Based on the short story and Salem’s Lot prequel by Stephen King, Chapelwaite is a new gothic horror series filled with vampires and old-school genre traditions premiering on EPIX tonight. Written by Peter and Jason Filardi, the first episode, “Blood Calls Blood,” debuts at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on the premium cable channel.

What is Chapelwaite Episode 1 about?

In 1850, Captain Charles Boone (Adrien Brody) lays his wife to rest at sea and then takes his children to his ancestral home in Preacher’s Corner. The aging manor, known as Chapelwaite, is the pinnacle of the Boone family and a dark reminder of the horrifying history plaguing the Boone family.

But as soon as Charles and his children arrive in town, they realize that it’s not going to be easy to acclimate to this small town in Maine. The many villagers greet the Boone with prejudice and hostility because of things that happened in the past with Charles’ ancestors. Throughout the first season of the show, Charles and his kids will have to confront the terrifying history of the Boone family and see if they can overcome the family curse.

Apart from Brody, the series stars Emily Hampshire as the Boone family’s governess, Rebecca Morgan. A recent college graduate and writer, Rebecca takes the job, so she has fodder for a compelling story after being scouted for the prestigious magazine The Atlantic.
