By Mads Lennon
Starting late tonight or early tomorrow morning, depending on how you want to look at it, Netflix’s latest thrilling limited series Clickbait premieres. Clickbait Netflix is a high-stakes thriller about a seemingly normal and loving man named Nick Brewer (Adrian Grenier) who mysteriously disappears one day.
Australian-based company Matchbox Pictures and Tony Ayres Productions, together with Heyday Television, produced the series for the streaming service. Tony Ayres (The Slap, Stateless) is the creator, showrunner, and executive producer, with Christian White functioning as co-creator, co-producer and writer.
Apart from Grenier, the series also stars Zoe Kazan, Betty Gabriel, Phoenix Raei, Jessica Collins, Daniel Henshall, Camaron Engels, Becca Lish, Jaylin Fletcher, Ian Meadows and Motell Foster.
What is Clickbait Netflix about?
Nick is a beloved husband, father, and brother, but after he vanishes, a video pops up online showing a battered and bruised Nick holding a sign reading “I abuse women.” The sign also posits that once the livestream of Nick receives 5 million views, he dies. In a race to save him, Nick’s sister and wife must work together to discover why someone would kidnap and threaten Nick, revealing an ugly, sordid history from revolving perspectives.
Using social media, Clickbait explores how well we really know each other and how easily we can hide the darkest parts of ourselves using technology. The promo draws comparisons to other thrillers like the 2008 film Untraceable and even Netflix’s chilling docuseries Don’t F**k with Cats.
What time can you watch Clickbait Netflix?
Like most Netflix Original series, Clickbait‘s entire first season will become available at 12:00 a.m. PT tonight, August 25. If you’re on the east coast, that means you won’t be able to watch until 3:00 a.m.
