Hayden McClaine from American Horror Story: Murder House

Played by: Kate Mara

Why the character was the worst: Let me say that I love Kate Mara as an actress, but that does not mean I love the characters she plays. Hayden McClaine on Murder House is one of the worst of all time.

This is a woman who just can’t help but be a narcissistic, spoiled brat. When she doesn’t get the man she wants, she threatens to destroy his life instead of just moving on. Okay, she was pregnant, but that didn’t mean she should destroy his life. Collect the child support—destroying his life would potentially mean no child support!

I have very little respect for her in the first place, though, considering she was knowingly sleeping with a married man. The man having the affair is bad; a woman knowingly having an affair is even worse.

Then what happens? She decides to cause trouble when she’s dead. She puts lives at risk, including the life of a child. Granted, she has that unfinished business of being pregnant when she died, but that doesn’t justify her actions in the afterlife.

There is nothing redeemable about this woman. And that’s if we can even call her a woman. She’s more like a spoiled little girl who throws tantrums when she doesn’t get her own way.
