Margaret Booth from American Horror Story: 1984

Played by: Leslie Grossman

Why the character was the worst: Margaret Booth was the sole survivor of Mr. Jingles’s attack on the camp in American Horror Story: 1984. At least, that’s the story that was told. It turned out that Margaret was definitely not the sole survivor.

Instead, she was the killer and she framed Benji Richter for it all. Murder is wrong, but it’s easy to see how some people snap. The camp counselors were awful people. However, Margaret took things way too far by framing Benji to get away with it for all those years. A poor innocent man was subjected to so much torture (yes, what happened to him was torture even if it was by medical “professionals”) because of Margaret’s actions.

To make matters worse, she wasn’t even apologetic for it. In fact, she did it all again. This time, she kills all the new camp counselors and blames it all on Brooke, who ends up having to go on the run and assume identities because it’s clear nobody will believe her story.

It looks like Margaret is going to succeed in everything. She has money, a TV show, and her freedom. There’s simply no empathy there at all.

There is some vengeance though. Margaret is eventually killed by Brooke and ends up coming back as a ghost. She doesn’t get to wreak more havoc, though. Instead, all the ghosts of the people she killed get their chance to torture her, and that’s how we see her story end.
