Lee Harris from American Horror Story: Roanoke
Played by: Adina Porter
Why the character was the worst: It’s hard not to feel for Lee Harris at first. In fact, she’s a likable character struggling with addiction. After an injury on the job, she ends up addicted to pain medicine. This is something that many of us can connect to in some sort of way. We know the opioid crisis is massive around the world.
However, things take some dark turns. Lee loves her daughter more than anything in the world, but she doesn’t do what’s right for her daughter. It’s all about what she thinks is right for her daughter—what she wants when it comes to her daughter.
This puts her daughter’s life in danger. While I’m sympathetic to the backstory, the actions afterward make it clear that she’s not a safe parent at all.
That is until the very end. This is why Lee isn’t quite at the very top of the list of worst American Horror Story characters. While she’s willing to turn against everyone else for her own safety and that of her daughter’s, she is also willing to do the right thing at the very end. She sacrifices herself for the sake of her daughter, even if it means being forever stuck to the land as a ghost.
