What is John Carroll Lynch’s best American Horror Story role?

If you want a convincing serial killer, look no further than John Carroll Lynch. Throughout his run on American Horror Story, he has been able to bring life to multiple serial killers. But it was his role as Benjamin Richter, also known as Mr. Jingles, that really showcased the actor’s talents.

Benjamin Richter is a serial killer wrongly accused of murder the first time around who kills people on his mission to get rid of the one who got away. Too bad she didn’t actually get away but was the real killer the entire time and it was because of her that his mind is twisted into one of a killer.

And then we watch as Benjamin finds a way to escape the murderous cycle, build a new life, which includes a family. But that is not meant to be, as his wife is murdered and he is once again brought back to the vicious cycle of murder and mayhem of the camp where it all began.

But the difference this time is that Benjamin Richter is a father now and has a new mission in life, to stop Margaret Booth and to keep his son safe. While all of this leads to his death at the camp and his haunting of that camp, it is done in an effort to do the right thing, which is fascinating.

We get to see a unique journey with this character and it is one that makes an impact. In fact, it is a part of the 1984 mythos that actually made the season quite brilliant. After all, this season gave us the birth of a serial killer based on the idea that others believed him to be a killer.
