What is Lily Rabe’s best American Horror Story role?

When it comes to fascinating characters, we have to look to Sister Mary Eunice, played by Lily Rabe.

While we actually see Sister Mary Eunice in two different seasons, Asylum and Freak Show, it is in Asylum that we get to see her go from a sweet and innocent young woman to one possessed by a demon. And that possession gives us a storyline that is impossible to forget.

We watch as this innocent woman goes from being a caring figure in the lives of these patients to a person who finds pleasure in seduction and death. And while we know that it’s not really her doing these things, that doesn’t take away from the fact that it is her body doing these things. (In fact, there is at least one time when we see the real her peek through and it is clear that she wants to be set free from the horror that has become of her life.)

What makes her story even sadder is the fact that in a later season, Freak Show, we get a look back at what Sister Mary Eunice once was. We get to see her kind soul and generous spirit as she takes on the care of Pepper. And even though she believes the worst of Pepper, she still wants to find the good in her in some small way.

Whether we look to her innocent beginnings or her demonic possession, there is just something so fascinating about this character and she is one we have a hard time forgetting.
