What is Angela Bassett’s best American Horror Story role?

Angela Bassett is an icon and a legend. And while we have loved every single time she has appeared on our screens, there is one American Horror Story character that stands out from the pack. Perhaps her most iconic AHS character has to be Marie Laveau.

Marie Laveau was the Voodoo Queen of New Orleans. Her history is vast and long, with bodies in her wake and much of that has to do with the death of her lover at the hands of Delphine LaLaurie. Even as she exacts her revenge on Delphine, things happen that in the long run lead to her death and eventual tenure in hell with Papa Legba, the Gatekeeper of the Spirit World who actually gifted Marie with her immortality originally.

The fact that she is so powerful and important that the witches actually sought her out in the afterlife (aka hell) in order to help stop the apocalypse is something that proves just how special she is. And that makes her a character we need to pay attention to.

Honestly, Marie Laveau was one of the more interesting Coven characters simply because she was based on a historical figure who was in fact known as a voodoo priestess. And to see her story told in such a unique way is one that we could actually see being true (if immortality was a whole thing of course). Of course, the fact that she was played by Angela Bassett is just the icing on the cake of this character.
