What is Evan Peters’s best American Horror Story role?

There are some actors who are literally American Horror Story legends. And Evan Peters is definitely one of those legends.

It was hard to choose his greatest performance out of the eight seasons in nine that he appeared. (Obviously, he is in the tenth season, but we are not looking to that season just yet.) And yet, the one character I kept coming back to was Jimmy Darling in Freak Show.

While Tate Langdon was where it all began and Kit Walker was in many ways a revelation, it was Jimmy Darling that really showed us a journey of self-discovery. We watched him go from hating the thing that made him a freak, to accepting it and actually embracing it.

And as far as character journeys, Jimmy shows the most growth in the entire season. He becomes a leader for the people and he does whatever he can to protect his people. And while he can’t save them, he does avenge them.

Once he leaves the Freak Show, he does exactly what we wanted him to do – he starts the family he has always wanted, even when he didn’t seem to realize that was what he wanted.

Jimmy Darling was not a hero, but he also was never a villain. He was a tragic character, who was able to take his tragedy and rise above it all. And that’s all we can hope for when it comes to some of these characters.
