Denis O’Hare has been another staple of the American Horror Story franchise. And while he has had many roles, it was his turn as Liz Taylor in Hotel that stood out the most, even among the other performances from other actors.
O’Hare brings to life the transgender bartender with a flair that is hard to ignore. And when we learn her story, it becomes even more amazing because we realize that their journey is one that so many people have been on in their lives.
The thing about Liz Taylor is that she is looking for love and even when she finds it, it is taken brutally from her. But the thing about Liz is that she is a survivor and she is resilient.
Even as she has much to thank the Countess for, she also has much to hate her for. Liz’s journey is not an easy one and yet she finds a way to run the Hotel Cortez as if it was her own, even with James March, The Countess, and even Will Drake being owners and problems in their own right.
Liz was a revelation and one of the greatest characters to come out of the American Horror Story franchise. And I think that is all due to the fact that Denis O’Hare is a genius.
