16. Ted Bundy: American Boogeyman
Yes, among the many new horror movies is yet another Ted Bundy movie. This time Chad Michael Murray portrays the infamous serial killer. Ted Bundy: American Boogeyman follows two intrepid FBI agents as they conduct one of the largest manhunts in history to find the specter roaming the highways of 1970s America. Teen Wolf alum Holland Roden co-stars as Kathleen McChesney. Lin Shaye, Jake Hays, Olivia DeLaurentis, Diane Franklin, and Marietta Melrose also star.
Ted Bundy: American Boogeyman releases on DVD and on demand on September 3.
15. Superhost
How well do you really know your Airbnb host? That’s the question Shudder Original film Superhost explores in one of the streaming service’s new horror movies. Teddy and Claire run a YouTube account where they review different vacation rental properties, but their latest stay gives them a lot more than they bargained for.
Their host, Rebecca, becomes increasingly strange and erratic as she oversteps their boundaries and intrudes on their privacy until the conflict bubbles to a bloody climax. Sara Canning, Osric Chau, Gracie Gillam, and Barbara Crampton star.
Superhost streams exclusively on Shudder on September 2.
14. Karen
Banking on the social media trend that labels racist white women as “Karens,” the aptly-titled BET Original film stars Taryn Manning as a bigoted white woman intent on pushing a Black couple who just moved in out of her neighborhood at any cost, but they won’t back down without a fight. BET actually has a lineup of several thrillers as part of their “Summer of Chills.”
Karen premieres on September 14 @ 10/9c with an encore on September 17 at 10/9c.
