American Horror Story: Double Feature is unique from other seasons of the long-running horror anthology because it will pack two different horror stories into one season. The first part, “Red Tide,” concluded last night with the finale, “Winter Kills.” We already knew the first half of the season would be set “by the sea” and the second half, “Death Valley,” will take place on land, specifically in the desert.

The following article will contain some spoilers for Red Tide, so if you haven’t finished watching the first six episodes of American Horror Story: Double Feature, you should turn back now!

The conclusion of Red Tide did not offer many hints for how Death Valley will connect to the story. The truth is, there might not be a concrete connection. Double features don’t always occur in the same universe. They just tend to follow a theme. Still, fans are eager to find out if a secret connection will unite these two storylines.

Most significantly, Red Tide involved a strange version of vampires, and we know Death Valley will deal with aliens. We also know that several actors from Red Tide will appear in the second storyline, too, like Angelica Ross, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe and Leslie Grossman. It’s not clear if the characters they play in this version will connect to the characters they played in Red Tide, but we know it can’t be the same people because Death Valley takes place in the 1950s.

Grossman did tease the connection between the two stories, adding that it would be “wildly inventive.”

“I don’t understand how Ryan does this, that ten years in and ten seasons in he’s able to have these incredibly fresh, totally unique, really specific ideas. So I think people are going to enjoy it. It’s very different, and really clever!” the actress added.

American Horror Story: Double Feature: Who else is starring in Death Valley?

Apart from the actors mentioned above returning from the first part, Cody Fern will also star in part two. He’ll be joined by Kaia Gerber, Neal McDonough, Nico Greetham, Rachel Hilson and Rebecca Dayan.

American Horror Story: Double Feature: Is The Chemist the key?

The biggest hint for how these two storylines connect appears to lie with The Chemist, played by Angelica Ross. On IMDb, she is credited as portraying an “Alien Hybrid,” and some fans have been wondering if she might be an alien or immortal being of some sort. At the end of Red Tide, she does tell baby Eli that she’d like to try and create a new pill that allows her to be immortal, which could be a hint. Maybe she’s using alien DNA?

American Horror Story: Double Feature: Harry Gardener’s magnum opus

Even though Harry is dead now, many fans have theorized that Death Valley is his final script come to life. Harry’s script helped launch Ursula’s successful boutique agency, and the finale also noted that his screenplay won numerous awards.
