Blumhouse just tweeted some exciting news involving the upcoming Joe Bob’s Halloween Hoedown special on Shudder. It seems that Blumhouse founder and CEO Jason Blum will be appearing alongside Joe Bob and Darcy on the special, which debuts on Friday, October 8. Not only that, it’s indicated in the tweet that David Gordon Green will also appear.

Jason Blum is responsible for bringing us horror films such as Paranormal Activity, Insidious, The Purge, Sinister, Oculus, Ouija: Origin of Evil and Halloween (2018). Given that list of films, there is no way to tell which (if any) of his movies will be featured on Joe Bob’s Halloween Hoedown.

David Gordon Green co-wrote and directed Halloween (2018), so there is a slim chance it may be a surprise addition to Shudder’s lineup, but who knows? Green also directed the upcoming Halloween Kills and will direct Halloween Ends.

In a later tweet, Blum himself pronounced the opportunity to appear on Joe Bob’s Halloween Hoedown as “a lifelong dream come true” and promised to talk about Halloween Kills, which will open in theaters and begin streaming on Peacock on October 15.

Joe Bob’s Halloween Hoedown will feature at least two (and possibly three) unannounced films and include all of the shenanigans and hijinks of his Shudder series The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs. The holiday specials, presented at Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Valentine’s Day, are beloved by fans, who speculate about which films they dream will be featured on social media.

For the record, I am a fan, and I long ago wished that Joe Bob would feature Motel Hell. That’s a genuine possibility since that 1980 flick just began streaming on Shudder (fingers crossed!).

Past guests on Joe Bob’s series and specials have included Tom Atkins (Halloween III: Season of the Witch), Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes), Eli Roth (Eli Roth’s History of Horror) and special effects makeup legend Tom Savini. Typically the guests have some tie to at least one of the films that are shown.

Joe Bob’s Halloween Hoedown will begin streaming on Shudder at 9:00 p.m. ET on October 8. If you are a new Shudder subscriber, you can receive a free 7-day trial subscription by visiting the website.
