When does Wednesday on Netflix come out?
By Mads Lennon
Ever since Netflix revealed they were making a new Wednesday Addams series and that Tim Burton would be directing it, fans have eagerly anticipated everything from announcing who would play Wednesday Addams in the Netflix series to when Wednesday on Netflix would release.
We do have an answer to at least one of those questions. Jenna Ortega was cast in the official role of Wednesday Addams. If you watch a lot of Netflix Originals, you probably recognize her from projects like The Babysitter: Killer Queen and Season 2 of You.
Apart from Ortega, the cast for the show is pretty impressive. Game of Thrones alum Gwendoline Christie will star as Principal Larissa Weems, and Catherine Zeta-Jones will play Morticia Addams, a casting decision that has delighted many. Luis Guzmán will portray Morticia’s doting husband, Gomez.
Other actors included in the casting announcements are Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Thora Birch, Joy Sunday, Percy Hynes White, Hunter Doohan and Emma Myers.
When does Wednesday on Netflix come out?
We do not have an official release date yet for Wednesday on Netflix. We know that Wednesday is currently filming, per What’s on Netflix. Principal photography started in September 2021. But there is no announcement regarding when Netflix wants to release the series or when filming is scheduled to wrap.
It would make sense for Wednesday to be released in fall 2022. I’m assuming that the streaming service would be apt for a Halloween release since that fits the general vibe of the franchise and Wednesday’s character in particular.
What is Wednesday on Netflix going to be about?
Netflix released the official logline of the series. It will focus on Wednesday’s adventures at Nevermore Academy:
"Wednesday Addams misadventures as a student at Nevermore Academy: a very unique boarding school snuggled in deepest New England.Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore."
