Cindy James has been the subject of numerous true crime podcasts and theories for more than seven years after her unsolved murder. Actress, director and screenwriter Pamela Adlon narrates a new Cindy James podcast that takes a deeper look into her death and the mysterious harassment that plagued her for years before her death.

The Audible Original podcast Death by Unknown Event consists of 12 episodes that delve deeper into Cindy’s story. A scripted podcast, Death by Unknown Event, comes from Audible and Skybound Entertainment.

For those unfamiliar with Cindy’s tragic story, the young Vancouver nurse was harassed for more than seven years in the 1980s. She reported more than 100 separate incidents of harassment to Canada’s Royal Mounted Police, who spent over a million dollars investigating her claims. The police reportedly could not find any evidence of foul play, leading them to suspect she was making it all up.

Cindy’s reports ranged from one brutal threat to another, including home invasions to stabbings and ritualistic assaults. In 1989, Cindy was found dead, a half-mile from her car at a nearby shopping mall. Her story is a tragic one and a truly bizarre, perplexing case with few answers.

Death by Unknown Event investigates what happened to Cindy and illuminates the failures of the law enforcement involved in her case, along with the lingering theories about how she died.
