Creators Anna Fricke and Ariana Jackson have rebooted the 2004 series with a similar plot but with a more character-driven focus this time around. If you didn’t watch the old version of the show, it’s not hard to understand the premise of this one.
Similar to shows like Lost, Manifest and The Leftovers, 4400 looks into what happened to a group of 4,400 people who mysteriously vanished from various points in time. Then suddenly, all reappeared simultaneously at the same place in 2021. The eclectic group of individuals includes everything from a ’50s housewife to a lawyer from 2005.

4400 series premiere synopsis
Tonight’s episode, “Past is Prologue,” sees the government attempt to handle the sudden influx of people and determine if there is a threat they should be concerned with now that these 4,400 people have suddenly returned. Several civil servants are called upon to deal with the refugees, including an empathetic social worker and a hardened corrections officer.
The series stars Joseph David-Jones, Ireon Roach, Brittany Adebumola, TL Thompson, Jaye Ladymore, Derrick A. King, Khailah Johnson, Cory Jeacoma, Amarr Wooten and Autumn Best.
