New Stranger Things comic finally reveals what happened to the demodog in the fridge
By Mads Lennon
Since the second season of Stranger Things, fans have wondered what happened to the Demodog in Joyce Byers’ fridge. We finally have an answer.
Stranger Things season 4 is still a ways off, but Netflix isn’t leaving fans completely hanging. Over the weekend, a new one-shot comic was released for fans to enjoy. Stranger Things: Winter Special features the gang celebrating Christmas, at least until Dustin spots a creature in the woods. The story takes place during December 1984, meaning it occurs between the show’s second and third seasons.
But beyond that, the new comic one-shot answers a vital question that fans have been pondering for years. Whatever happened to the Demodog corpse Dustin shoved into Joyce Byers’ fridge in season 2?
The new comic was released during the Stranger Things Day celebration on Saturday, November 6. The 48-page comic from Dark Horse is currently available for purchase wherever comics are sold. You can also pre-order a physical copy or purchase a digital copy right now via the website.
You can read the first eight pages of the comic yourself right here.
Stranger Things: What happened to the Demodog Dustin put in Joyce’s fridge?
The first eight pages of the story show Steve driving Dustin, Mike and Lucas to see Eleven so Mike can deliver her a present. We also find out that Lucas has a gift for Max. During the drive, Dustin claims to have seen a creature in the woods, although no one else notices anything. Steve has had enough of these monsters and “scientific discoveries.”
Apparently, so has Joyce, as Hopper notes that Joyce still hasn’t forgiven Dustin for leaving its corpse “rotting in her fridge.” Dustin then says he did it because it was a groundbreaking scientific discovery.
“How was I supposed to know it was going to turn into sludge over night?”
There you have it, folks. The Demodog corpse turned into some kind of disgusting goop, hence why Joyce is still a bit pissed at Dustin for storing it in her freezer.
