A new film in the Predator franchise is on the way. During the Disney+ Day celebration, Disney revealed that the upcoming movie will be a Predator prequel called Prey set 300 years in the past amid the Comanche Nation. This story follows a warrior who tries to protect her tribute while an alien Predator stalks them. Amber Midthunder will star in the leading role of Naru, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg is attached to the project, which is expected to hit Hulu in the United States in summer 2022, while the movie will stream on Disney+ under the Star service internationally.

When does the movie come out? Who else is starring in it? Here’s what we know about Prey so far.

Predator prequel Prey release date

We don’t have an official release date for the Predator prequel just yet. As of now, Disney has simply said that the new movie will come to the Disney-controlled service Hulu in the summer. Other than that release window, we don’t have an official date.

Most of the Predator films are available on streaming services, although they’re not all in one convenient place, unfortunately. They are all available for purchase or rental via on-demand and digital.

Prey cast

Apart from Midthunder, no other casting announcements have been made. More news will probably be released within the next few months.

Prey first look

If you’ve been following along with all of the Disney+ updates you’ve probably seen the first look on social media already, but below you can check it out. So far, 20th Century Studios has unveiled the title treatment and a still from the film that shows Naru walking through a dark forest as the Predator lurks in the background, it looks visually stunning.

The upcoming movie will be the fifth installment overall in the Predator franchise, which started with the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger film.
