Where to watch Ghostbusters: Afterlife? Is Ghostbusters: Afterlife on streaming?
By Mads Lennon
The newest Ghostbusters movie, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, is officially out now. Where can you watch it, and will it be on streaming? Jason Reitman, son of Ivan Reitman, directs the new movie, which features the return of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts, who are all reprising their roles from the original movies.
Apart from the returning cast, Ghostbusters: Afterlife features several franchise newcomers in Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon and Paul Rudd. After getting evicted from their home, a young mother and her two kids relocate to a decaying farmhouse in Summerville, Oklahoma, left to them by the children’s grandfather.
A series of strange earthquakes have been happening despite the house not being located near a fault, and strange occurrences plague an old mine once owned by alleged occultist Ivo Shandor. It doesn’t take long for the kids to discover that their grandfather had a history with the original Ghostbusters, who were largely forgotten except by their fanbase.
Where can I watch Ghostbusters: Afterlife?
Ghostbusters: Afterlife is releasing exclusively in theaters, so you will have to go to your local cinema to watch the movie. Unlike some other releases that have come out this year and last, the new Ghostbusters won’t have a same-day release in theaters and on-demand or streaming.

Will Ghostbusters: Afterlife be on Netflix?
Netflix and Sony have a deal between them where the distribution company’s movies will go to Netflix starting in 2022. Even though Ghostbusters is releasing in 2021, it won’t be available on streaming until 2022 at the earliest, so it will likely be available on Netflix sometime in the new year. If the release date makes it fall outside the pact details, then Ghostbusters might go to Starz, where other Sony releases like Fantasy Island are now streaming.
