Hulu has released the first official trailer for the upcoming sci-fi thriller film Mother/Android. A pregnant Chloe Grace Moretz faces off against an android uprising alongside her boyfriend, Sam, played by Algee Smith. Georgia (Moretz) must trudge through a treacherous area on her way to the last remaining safe place to give birth to her and Sam’s son before it’s too late.
Apart from Moretz and Smith, the film also stars Raul Castillo. Moretz is easily recognizable from her previous roles in projects like Kick-Ass and Shadow in the Cloud, while Smith recently starred in Judas and the Black Messiah and Euphoria. Castillo recently appeared in the Netflix horror films Army of the Dead and Night Teeth.
Mother/Android is directed by Mattson Tomlin (Project Power, Little Fish) while Matt Reeves (The Batman, War of the Planet of the Apes, Cloverfield) is producing through his 6th & Idaho production company with Adam Kassan and Rafi Crohn. Charles Miller and Miramax’s Bill Block (The Gentleman, District 9) also serve as producers.
Mother/Android release date
Fans won’t have to wait too much longer to see the upcoming Hulu Original film. Mother/Android is scheduled to start streaming exclusively on Hulu beginning on Friday, December 17.
Are you looking forward to the movie? Will you watch it on the day of its release?
The recently released trailer makes it look like the Moretz-led movie will borrow from the DNA of zombie films and even A Quiet Place. At one point in the trailer, Georgia and Sam discuss having to be “silent” when they go through an android-heavy area.
The effects of the androids look great, very creepy. However, it’s hard to see how this movie will differentiate itself since it seems mostly like a zombie apocalypse movie except with androids in place of zombies. And funnily enough, Army of the Dead already blended those two ideas together. But I look forward to seeing what this movie has to offer.
