Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong has been delayed to May 2022

The highly-anticipated Vampire: Masquerade – Swansong has been delayed past its February 2022 release date. The news comes from the official Vampire: Masquerade – Swansong social media accounts.
Per the @VampireSwansong Twitter account, the developers announced that they needed more time with the game due to its magnitude. The opening of the statement notes that they are reinventing the DNA fundamental to their studio to scale the game from the Vampire: Masquerade tabletop to an in-depth, narrative-driven RPG experience.
I’m guessing most video game developers and companies are going to be extra cautious about the state of released games on the heels of CD Projekt RED’s now-infamous Cyberpunk 2077 debacle from last year. The fact they are willing to delay the game rather than rush the timeline is a good sign.
Set in Boston, in the World of Darkness, Swansong will give players the ability to play as three different vampires from different clans, each with differing views on the vampire sect Camarilla and its rules.
When will Vampire: Masquerade – Swansong be released?
Because Vampire: Masquerade – Swansong will feature many choices, characters, and choices in a dynamic, changing world, the game will need more time in the developmental stages. Instead of the February 2022 release date, fans can now anticipate the game releasing in May 2022, specifically May 19, 2022.
While it’s unfortunate we’ll have to wait longer for the game to be released, it seems like this is the best decision to avoid crunch and to ensure the team is able to deliver a more polished experience.
Even though Swansong is not a direct sequel to the cult favorite Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines (a separate sequel is in development), expectations are still exceedingly high for this game given how beloved the 2004 game and the overall World of Darkness franchise are to so many.
