Horror shows: Channel Zero

  • Seasons: 4

  • Starring: Varies by season
  • Streaming: Shudder

Channel Zero is another underrated series that has gotten largely overlooked due to airing on Syfy with little to no fanfare. But more horror fans have discovered it in recent years, in part due to its access on streaming. Channel Zero was based on internet creepypastas, a term used for horror legends that have originated online, primarily on Reddit. It was available via Prime Video for a while and is now streaming on Shudder.

Channel Zero is a quick watch with just four, six-episode seasons, and you won’t be disappointed. Every season is a self-contained story, similar to other anthologies. One of the best aspects of this show is its incredible attention to detail and stunning visuals. It can be incredibly gory, but similar, almost, to Hannibal in that the gore is displayed artistically—yet will still give you nightmares.

I mean, before I watched it, I had only seen the “teeth thing,” as I called it visible in some of the early promotional art, I won’t say more about it, but by looking at images from the show, you can get a taste of how spine-tingling some of the content is. It’s a shame that it didn’t get to continue for longer.

Verdict: WATCH
