Horror shows: Ash vs. the Evil Dead

  • Seasons: 3
  • Created by: Sam and Ivan Raimi
  • Starring: Bruce Campbell, Ray Santiago, Dana DeLorenzo, Jill Marie Jones, Michelle Hurd, Ted Raimi, Pepi SonugaArielle Carver-O’Neill, Lindsay Farris and Lucy Lawless
  • Streaming: Netflix, Starz

This comedy horror television show from Sam and Ivan Raimi is a continuation of the cult classic Evil Dead franchise with Bruce Campbell returning in the role of Ash Williams from the original trilogy.

Set about 30 years after the original movies, Ash vs the Evil Dead follows Ash and his new friends Pablo and Kelly as they are forced to become heroes and save the world from the Evil Dead yet again. Given that the same team who created the original movies made this show, you can expect the same kind of humor and over-the-top blood and violence.

It’s an extremely entertaining series, particularly for fans of the franchise, but newcomers will find lots to enjoy as well. It’s unfortunate that the show got canceled after just three seasons but Campbell has said they had a feeling it was coming so the ending is well-suited to cap off Ash’s story. He said that he’s finished playing Ash after the show (beware of spoilers at the link), feeling like his story has wrapped up nicely.
