Two on Netflix is a new arthouse horror movie with a twisted premise. We’re diving into the film’s ending and that big reveal. The Two movie follows the characters of David and Sara, strangers who wake up in a random room and slowly realize that someone has sewn them together at the stomach.

SPOILER: If you haven’t watched the movie yet, you’ll want to turn back now since the following article will spoil the end of the film.

It’s a disturbing premise and the leads are understandably horrified at what has happened to them, especially because they have no memory of the events leading up to their current situation. Throughout the 71 minute runtime, we watch as David and Sara try to piece together the mystery of who sewed them together, why and if there is a way for them to escape alive.

Two on Netflix ending explained: Who is responsible for sewing David and Sara together?

While initially, it seems like Sara’s abusive husband Mario is behind their circumstances as revenge for believing Sara cheated on him, it is later revealed that the truth is far more complicated. Realizing that every time she and David kiss (I’m still not sure what inspires them to sporadically make out throughout the movie) the man holding them captive turns out the lights, seemingly as a warning to stop.

Sara wonders if they go further they can draw the man out or make something else happen. Her hypothesis is correct. When they start having sex, their captive busts down the door and demands they stop. Sara had already realized that he wasn’t her husband after hearing his voice on the phone, but seeing him in person confirms it.

However, the man, Oscar, is dressed like Mario, likely as a way to lure Sara earlier and drug her. The pair manage to knock Oscar out and leave through the open door where they find newspaper articles conveniently alluding to Oscar’s master plan. It turns out that Sara and David were born as congenital twins, the only male/female case in the world. Their mother, Rita, whose picture they found earlier, died from an injury sustained during childbirth. Their father was diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic and the twins became wards of the state.

Their birth certificates were falsified. Well, Oscar was angry that his kids, the twins, were surgically separated and became obsessed with “fixing” them. David and Sara find that he’s been experimenting on dogs with several conjoined animals kept in cages in the back room. Oscar’s plan was to keep his “rejoined” twins with him forever.

He talks passionately about Chang and Eng Bunker, or the “Bunker Brothers,” a real-life case of Siamese twins who became famous and went on to live pretty full lives, even marrying and having kids.

Two on Netflix ending explained: Was Oscar their real biological father?

Some things are left unexplained in Two, including “Oscar’s” identity. It’s possible he was just a crazy guy who heard of this case and became obsessed with David and Sara. We don’t have any real way of knowing if he is their bio dad. The one photo we see of their father is of him as a younger man and Oscar is disguised as Mario.

It’s hard to tell if it’s the same person. Speaking of Mario, Sara and David find Mario’s dead body in Oscar’s lab along with Sara’s gun, implying that she might have killed him before all this happened.

Two on Netflix ending explained: Do David and Sara survive?

Unfortunately, no. Sara shoots Oscar in an ensuing scuffle and David gets mortally wounded in the process. He begs Sara to cut herself free so at least one of them survives. Using a letter opener, Sara manages to sever their tie and bound for the door, but once outside she quickly realizes that they are in the middle of nowhere, likely in the mountains somewhere given the snowy tundra outside the door.

Since Sara is also wounded from cutting herself free, she falls down and dies in the snow as David succumbs to his injury inside. I guess Oscar was right when he said they were stronger together!
