Based on the novel by Christopher Pike, The Midnight Club is set to release on Netflix sometime in 2022. The series will be the fifth Netflix original for creator and horror icon Mike Flanagan.

Production of The Midnight Club was first announced in 2020. With Mike Flanagan as showrunner and Flanagan, Trevor Macy and Leah Fong signing on as executive producers, the series is set to be the next in a line of successes for Netflix and Intrepid Pictures.

Everything we know about The Midnight Club

The 1994 novel The Midnight Club tells the story of a group of terminally ill patients at the Rotterdam hospice who meet at midnight and tell each other scary stories. The group then decides to make a pact that whoever dies first will do their best to communicate with the others from beyond the grave. After the first member of the group dies, bizarre events begin to occur.

The Netflix series is set to follow the plot of the novel while also incorporating some of Pike’s other novels into the series. Other works by Pike include The Last Vampire, Thirst and Bury me Deep.

Flanagan announced the cast in a series of tweets on February 1. The titular Midnight Club group will be played by Adia, Igby Rigney, Ruth Codd, William Chris Sumpter, Aya Furukawa, Annarah Shephard and Sauriyan Sapkota, with Heather Langenkamp portraying the doctor who presides over Rotterdam Hospice. Midnight Mass alums Zach Gilford, Samantha Sloyan and Matt Beidel, will appear in supporting roles.

In April 2021, Deadline announced that Iman Benson, Larsen Thompson, William B. Davis, Crystal Balint and Patricia Drake had also been added to the cast.

Production

The first two episodes of the series are directed by Flanagan, while other episodes have been directed by Axelle Carolyn, Emmanuel Osei-Kuffour, Michael Fimognari, Morgan Beggs and Viet Nguyen. Filming began on March 15 and concluded in September.

Release
