Netflix in January 2022: The Colony / Tides (2021)

Tides (also known as The Colony) is a German-Swiss sci-fi thriller that initially premiered at the 71st Berlin International Film Festival. Set in a not-too-distant future post-global catastrophe, humanity is on the brink and an elite astronaut must make a crucial decision that will decide the fate of people on earth and the Space Colony Kepler-209.

Netflix in January 2022: Brazen (2022)

Based on the novel Brazen Virtue by acclaimed romance writer Nora Roberts, Brazen is an upcoming romantic thriller film led by Alyssa Milano and Sam Page. The story revolves around prominent mystery writer and crime expert, Grace (Milano) as she returns back to her hometown of Washington D.C. to help her estranged sister.

When she arrives, Grace learns that her sister was murdered and her double life as a webcam performer is revealed. A detective named Ed (Page) warns Grace against getting involved in the case due to the dangerous circumstances, but Grace ignores his warnings.

Netflix in January 2022: Archive 81

Loosely inspired by the popular podcast of the same name, Archive 81 follows archivist Dan Turner (Mamoudou Athie), who takes a job restoring a collection of damaged videotapes from 1994.

While reconstructing the work of a documentary filmmaker named Melody Pendras (Dina Shihabi), Dan is drawn into her investigation of a dangerous cult centered at the Visser apartment building. As the first season unfolds across a present-day and 1994 timeline, Dan finds himself becoming increasingly obsessed with uncovering the true story of what happened to Melody all those years before.
