It’s the end of the road for Prime Video’s latest teen slasher series, I Know What You Did Last Summer. Based on the 1973 novel by Lois Duncan, the show was a modern interpretation of the text, much different than the films that were released in the 1990s starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ryan Phillippe, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar.

I Know What You Did Last Summer officially dead at Prime Video

The Prime Video series followed a group of friends stalked by a serial killer on the island of Hawaii. The show stars Madison Iseman, Brianne Tju, Ezekiel Goodman, Ashley Moore, Bill heck, Fiona Rene, Sebastian Amoruso, Cassie Beck and Brooke Bloom. But sadly for fans of the show, it was killed like many of its core characters after a single season.

I Know What You Did Last Summer debuted on October 15, 2020, to mostly mixed reviews from critics. The first four episodes were released simultaneously, followed by one episode per week throughout the remainder of the first (and now only) season’s eight-episode order.

Could another service save I Know What You Did Last Summer?

Nowadays, a show being canceled doesn’t automatically mean it’s over. Television shows are constantly being rescued, rebooted, revived, etc. Is it possible that another streaming service or provider could save I Know What You Did Last Summer?

Never say never, but it doesn’t seem likely. Most of the time, when television series are rescued from the cancellation heap, it’s because they cultivated a loyal fanbase willing to fight for them. This teen slasher didn’t appear to generate much fanfare and seems to have been mostly forgotten about since the finale aired.

If anything, I could see someone else trying to revive the franchise with another movie or something similar, but it’s unlikely to be at Prime Video or involve the same team and storyline. For now, the show is officially over.
