Shining Girls finally has a premiere date. Viewers won’t have to wait too much longer to watch the upcoming Apple Original thriller series starring Emmy Award-winner Elisabeth Moss on streaming. Apple revealed the premiere date and a first look at the highly-anticipated series based on Lauren Beukes’ bestselling novel of the same name. Below you’ll find the release date, plot details and the first teaser for the upcoming series.
Hailing from MRC television, this metaphysical thriller stars Moss and is executive produced by Appian Way, with Emmy Award winner Michelle MacLaren directing the first two episodes. Showrunner Silka Luisa adapted the novel for television, and the first season will consist of eight episodes to premiere globally on Apple TV+.

The first three episodes of Shining Girls will premiere globally on Friday, April 29, 2022. After that, the remaining five episodes will air weekly every Friday.
Shining Girls plot details
For those who haven’t read Beukes’ novel, we’ll give you a quick rundown of what to expect from the upcoming thriller. Moss stars as Kirby Mazrachi, a Chicago newspaper archivist whose journalistic ambitions were put on hold after a traumatic assault. A recent murder reminds Kirby of her case, and she partners with troubled reporter Dan Velazquez (Wagner Moura) to uncover the attacker’s identity.
During their pursuit, the pair draw disturbing links between the two cold cases, and Kirby’s reality becomes increasingly blurred as she inches closer to the assailant. Besides Moss and Moura, Shining Girls also stars Phillipa Soo, with Amy Brenneman and Jamie Bell rounding out the cast.

Under a minute long, it’s enough to give you an idea of what to expect from the show without giving away too much. Based on the teaser, it looks like Shining Girls is going to be a trippy story that warps reality.
