Looks like this summer is going to be one to die for thanks to the trailer for The Quarry, a new game from Supermassive Games and 2K.

Fans of horror games will recognize Supermassive Games from titles like Until Dawn and the trio of releases from the Dark Pictures Anthology. We knew that they were working on another, slightly secret project not related to the anthology. According to Business Wire, Supermassive and 2K have announced that gamers are in for a killer summer with The Quarry trailer.

If you have ever played any games from Supermassive, you are familiar with their style. The player will hold the fates of several characters and they will make the choices that will determine who lives and who dies. From terrifying cryptids to chemical warfare to ancient monsters, these choose your own adventure games have been hits that keep on coming. The newest game, The Quarry, seems to have a similar formula and with an all-star cast.

They aren’t playing around with their casting with names like David Arquette, Ariel Winter, Justice Smith, Brenda Song, Lance Henrikson, Ted Raimi and the incomparable Lin Shaye. And those aren’t even all! This game centers around teenagers at a summer camp. It’s the last day at camp and all of the kids and adults have left. The counselors at Hackett’s Quarry decide to throw one last rager for the summer but the yokel locals have something to say about it, and they may not be the only ones. This classic horror trope starts out as a party and ends in a bloodbath…or does it? The choice is yours.

Director Will Byles had this to say:

"“The Quarry is breaking new ground across interactive storytelling and technology to create a truly visceral teen-horror experience. I can’t wait to see the choices you make, who you’ll save, and who you’re willing to sacrifice!”"

Until Dawn was a massive hit for players who wanted to experience a truly interactive narrative but the releases since then have been relatively hit or miss. Last year, Supermassive wowed players with The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes. The third entry in the anthology showed off the best graphics of the series so far and highly improved game mechanics. It shows that the developers are listening to the feedback of fans, which makes us all the more excited to see what is in store with The Quarry.

Based on what we can see in trailer, the graphics look incredible (although they still have that creepy mouth issue) and this is the first game since Until Dawn that FEELS like players will have an active part in a traditional horror movie. Looks like it’s hunting season, kids.

The Quarry is set for release on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Windows PC via Steam on June 10, 2022. Who will you save?
