Shudder releases trailer for second season of Cursed Films

Shudder docu-series Cursed Films will be returning for a second round next month with Cursed Films II.

Cursed Films debuted on Shudder in April of 2021 as the second most-watched series premier (the first place spot was taken by Creepshow). Each of the five episodes took a deep dive into the myths and the mysterious and sometimes fatal mishaps surrounding legendary horror films.

Cursed Films‘ first season explored The Exorcist, Poltergeist, The Crow, The Omen and Twilight Zone: The Movie. It was surprisingly moving at times, particularly the interview segments regarding the tragic deaths of Poltergeist‘s Heather O’Rourke and The Crow‘s Brandon Lee, and those of Vic Morrow and two child actors during filming of Twilight Zone: The Movie. The latter episode even showed film footage of the incident, which involved a helicopter landing on the three.

What films will Shudder explore in Cursed Films II?

Cursed Films II will also consist of five episodes, investigating additional films: The Wizard of Oz, Soviet film Stalker, Rosemary’s Baby, Cannibal Holocaust and Wes Craven’s The Serpent and the Rainbow.

Rosemary’s Baby was referred to as “the most cursed hit movie ever made” in a Vanity Fair article. The trail of death and mishaps appears to have begun with the film’s composer Krzysztof Komeda, who fell from a cliff while at a party.  He was in a coma for four months before he eventually died from his injuries.

Director Roman Polanski certainly had his share of troubles in the years after his legendary film was made. His pregnant wife, Sharon Tate, was notoriously stabbed to death by the Manson Family. In 1978, Polanski fled to Paris to avoid being imprisoned for the sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl.
