Michelle Monaghan, best known for Gone Baby Gone and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, is a tour de force in Redbox Entertainment’s upcoming action-thriller Black Site. Shot on Australia’s Gold Coast and co-starring Jason Clarke (John Connor in 2015’s Terminator Genysis), Black Site marks director Sophia Banks’ debut feature.
Black Site Synopsis
Monaghan stars as Abby, a CIA agent that runs an underground black site prison containing some of the most dangerous terrorists and criminals imprisoned by the CIA. At her good-bye party, before she is transferred back to the states, the call comes in that Special Ops captured the notorious bad guy, code-name Hatchet, and they’re on the way to her facility. For Abby, this is personal, as she vowed to avenge the death of her husband and daughter at the hands of Hatchet. In a botched interrogation by Special Ops, Hatchet escapes and wreaks havoc, murdering officers and freeing dangerous prisoners. As Abby rushes against time to save herself and everyone she’s responsible for, it becomes clear that Hatchet isn’t the only one working against her – is there a mole? Who, and why?
Black Site Trailer
The trailer begins with the capture of Hatchet and a helicopter flight giving a night-time view of the stunning Australian coast. She instructs one of her soldiers, a scoffing Jai Courtney (Terminator Genysis’ Kyle Reese), that Hatchet isn’t to be harmed, to play by the book. After more sweeping exterior shots giving a sense of complete isolation, the camera enters the Black Site, code name: Citadel. We get Courtney’s description of the gruesome method of Hatchet’s murders and a bit of the back story of Abby’s murdered family, before we see a hooded Hatchet being led inside by four Special Ops officers. Throughout there are shots of Abby’s investigation into the deaths of her husband and daughter until gunshots interrupt Hatchet’s interrogation and we see all hell break loose.
