Halloween Horror Nights collaborating with The Weeknd on haunted houses
By Carla Davis
Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando and Hollywood are preparing for their event openings in September, and they just made another announcement regarding their roster of haunted houses.
Already announced were Universal Monsters: Legends Collide, The Horror of Blumhouse and Halloween, and now a fourth house is joining in on the fun.
The Weeknd: After Hours Nightmare is described as “an unprecedented experience.” As the song After Hours plays, guests will experience characters and themes based on The Weeknd’s films and music. We are promised stalker-like killers, bandaged crazies and grotesque creatures, all of which we are challenged to escape from.
The Weeknd’s original, ominous music has spawned four top-selling albums, and the single Blinding Lights from the After Hours album was designated the #1 Greatest Hot 100 Hit of All Time by Billboard.
The Weeknd’s love of horror makes him a great fit for Halloween Horror Nights
The Weeknd is a great choice for Halloween Horror Nights to pair with, thanks to his love for horror, and his dark filmmaking abilities. His album Kiss Land was inspired by horror filmmakers David Cronenberg, John Carpenter and Ridley Scott. He claims that helping to create a Halloween Horror Nights haunted house is a dream come true, and that Halloween has always influenced his music.
John Murdy, Executive Producer for Halloween Horror Nights Universal Studios Hollywood referred to The Weeknd: After Hours house as “equally unexpected and terrifying” and said it will be an experience that will shatter expectations. You can catch a glimpse into the macabre mind of the Weeknd by taking a look at this video.
Halloween Horror Nights begins September 2 at Universal Orlando Resort, and September 8 at Universal Studios Hollywood, and will run through Monday, October 31. All event tickets are currently for sale, including the Frequent Fear Pass.
As more information about the remaining haunted houses is released, 1428 Elm will keep you informed.
