All Halloween lovers know the joy of setting foot into our first Spirit Halloween store each year, don’t we? You step in the door to be greeted by some screaming, moaning or growling creature that you triggered by “accidently” stepping on the button. And suddenly, all is right with the world, because Halloween is officially in the air.

Sometimes it almost brings me to tears, so happy am I to see row upon row of awesome Halloween decorations and costumes that fill up a Spirit Halloween space. And, hey, these are almost always empty spaces that would otherwise remain unused, right? Re-use, recycle!

Now Spirit Halloween has upped their Halloween game by bringing us an actual movie set in one of their spooky spaces. Yes, you read that correctly, Spirit Halloween: The Movie will be available to stream on your favorite VOD platform beginning October 11.

The plot involves a group of middle school-aged friends who are a tad too old to trick or treat, but still want some Halloween fun and mischief. Naturally, they decide to spend the night inside a Spirit Halloween store, unbeknownst to the employees.

Once locked inside (with the lights out, naturally), they discover that an evil spirit haunts the store; worse yet, it can possess the already terrifying animatronic decorations, which are plentiful. Can they survive the night without themselves being possessed?

The new film is directed by David Poag, and features Rachel Leigh Cook (Criminal Minds), Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future and a ton of other great flicks), Marla Gibbs (best known from The Jeffersons), Donovan Colvan, Marissa Reyes, Jaiden J. Smith, Dylan Martin Frankel and Brad Carter.

Is it going to be gory and disturbing? Probably not, but the trailer (which you can watch below) looks like it’s going to be good Halloween fun, and that’s enough for me!
