Special guest announced for Joe Bob’s Haunted Halloween Hangout on Shudder

Hold onto your jack o’ lanterns, fans of The Last Drive-In! We were already anticipating the upcoming Joe Bob’s Haunted Halloween Hangout, which is coming to Shudder this Friday, October 21, and now we know who the special guest will be.

Remember Joe Bob’s Christmas special from a couple of years ago? I think it was Red Christmas, and Joe Bob was trying to put together a guest panel of horror hosts. Every one of them cancelled, including the great Elvira.

Well, Joe Bob is finally getting his Christmas wish, even though it is a little late coming, because the Haunted Halloween Hangout guest is none other than Elvira herself, Cassandra Peterson!

Elvira came into being in the very early 1980s when Cassandra Peterson answered the casting call for a weekend horror show hostess. She auditioned and won, and was allowed to create her own character and look, and despite a cease and desist attempt alleging that she was ripping off the Vampira character, she won in court.

Her funny, sarcastic line deliver, massive black wig and low-cut dress were a huge hit, and Peterson has described Elvira as a teenage version of herself.

The peak of her popularity came in 1988 with the film Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, which remains a cult favorite to this day. It’s a silly, fun film that allowed Peterson to show not only her impressive cleavage, but her heart as well.

As usual with the Joe Bob specials, no announcement has been made as far as which two films will be featured on the special, which sort of adds to the excitement.

Joe Bob’s Haunted Halloween Hangout will make its debut on the  Shudder TV feed on Friday, October 21 at 9:00 p.m. ET, and it will be available to stream on demand beginning Sunday, October 23.
