Travel Channel is releasing two new Shock Docs specials in March, one is about an extremely notorious double murder, and the other is about an equally notorious alien abduction. They will air on both Travel Channel and discovery+.

First, let’s talk about the murder case, which will be covered in Shock Docs: The Curse of Lizzie Borden. Most of us are fairly familiar with the story of Lizzie Borden, who, in theory, “gave her mother 40 whacks” with an axe before also killing her father.

The murders took place in the Borden home in Fall River, Massachusetts on august 4, 1892, and there were so many contradictory and confusing statements by everyone involved. that it’s a wonder anyone was ever charged. Lizzie was really the only viable suspect, but was acquitted by a jury, and spent the rest of life ostracized by the people of Fall River.

Over the years, many theories have been put out there, including one that Lizzie had been involved in a relationship with the family’s maid, Brigette Sullivan. Some even believe that Sullivan herself committed the murders.

In the new Travel Channel Shock Doc, paranormal investigator Dave Schrader along with a team of experts explore the possibility of a family curse that may have resulted in the gruesome murders. Does Lizzie’s ghost still reside in that house in Fall River? Schrader and his team conduct a séance in an effort to dig into the truth.

The two-hour special Shock Docs: The Curse of Lizzie Borden will premiere on March 5, 9:00 p.m. ET on Travel Channel.

Next up is another two-hour special titled Shock Docs – Alien Abduction: Travis Walton. Walton’s harrowing story was adapted to film with 1993’s Fire in the Sky.

Walton and several other men who were part of a logging crew working in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest in Arizona were riding in a truck when they claimed to have seen a saucer-shaped UFO. Walton said he got out of the truck to approach the object, and was hit by a beam of light that knocked him unconscious. His work mates fled in terror, and he claimed to remember very little until five days later, when he found himself walking on the highway.

Meanwhile, his fellow workers were suspected of making up the story, and possibly even murdering Travis. Of course, his reappearance put an end to the murder theories, and the years since that time have been spent speculating as to whether their story is true, or if the men made it up in an effort to get publicity.

Shock Docs – Alien Abduction: Travis Walton airs on Travel Channel Sunday, March 12 at 9:00 p.m. ET.
