True crime series Very Scary People will make a return to ID in April, with Donnie Wahlberg again at the helm. Wahlberg hosts and executive produces the series, which takes a close look at notorious killers.

Past episodes of Very Scary People have featured John Gotti, the Hillside Stranglers and the Ken and Barbie Killers. This season will include no less than Richard Cottingham, who was just featured in the new Netflix docuseries The Times Square Killer.

Very Scary People takes a detailed look at the crimes, while also giving viewers a look at the killers’ backgrounds and their likely motives, while taking us into the investigations that brought the murders to an end.

The new season  of Very Scary People begins on Sunday, April 16 at 9:00 p.m. ET on both ID and discovery+. While you’re at it, you can check out the prior seasons on discovery+.

Donnie Wahlberg said that he “hopes this knowledge helps prevent similar crimes from happening in the future.” He believes that digging into the psyches of killers brings us insight that we wouldn’t have otherwise.

Very Scary People is making a move for the new season

Very Scary People previously aired on HLN, and this will be its first season on ID. Jason Sarlanis, President of ID proclaimed that ID is “delighted to become the new home of Very Scary People”, and welcomes Donnie Wahlberg with open arms.

The season premiere will feature the story of The Trailside Killer, David Carpenter. Once a suspect in the Zodiac murders (from which he was cleared), Carpenter was responsible for multiple rapes and murders from 1979 – 1981. He favored hiking trails in the state parks of Northern California, attacking and killing at least ten people, with two of his victims surviving.

Other individuals who will be featured on Very Scary People include Larry Hall, The Happy Face Killer and Judy Buenoano, the Black Widow. Buenoano was a wife, mother and nurse, all of which hid her true diabolical (and very deadly) nature.
