Robert Englund is a horror icon known for his portrayal of the infamous villain Freddy Krueger in the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. He made significant contributions to the horror genre during his long and storied career, spanning over four decades.

Englund first gained fame for his role as Freddy Krueger in the original A Nightmare on Elm Street movie in 1984. His portrayal of the sadistic and terrifying dream demon quickly became an iconic horror villain and set the standard for future slasher movie antagonists.
