If we are discussing modern-day Scream Queens, we absolutely have to include Mia Goth. When discussing her filmography (at least where horror is concerned), we would have to go back to 2017, when she appeared in A Cure For Wellness.

2018 brought the remake of Dario Argento’s masterpiece Suspiria. Goth played Sara, and while Argento fans were divided in their opinions of the film, most lauded the performances. In that same year, she appeared in science fiction-horror film High Life.

But Mia Goth’s biggest break came in 2022, when she appeared as two very different characters in Ti West’s very successful  and bloody slasher, X. It was quite an acting feat playing both the young and driving Maxine and the elderly, very murderous Pearl. As the end credits rolled for X, audiences were treated to a real surprise: we hadn’t seen the last of Pearl.

Ti West disclosed that a prequel had already been filmed, with Mia Goth playing a much younger version of Pearl; not only that, but she had also co-written the prequel. Six months later, Pearl was released, and even those who didn’t care for the film itself could not deny that Goth’s acting performance was absolutely jaw-dropping. That final monologue and her marathon-length uncomfortable smile were absolutely Academy Award worthy on their own.

Plus, Mia Goth has a very unique look, she is not just another blonde beauty.

When Pearl screened at the Toronto Film Festival, Ty West announced that a third film was forthcoming, this one set in the 1980s, and again starring Mia Goth. So, probably sometime within the next year, we will be treated to MaXXXine, and can once again watch Goth perform her magic.

Goth’s most recent film was Infinity Pool, which premiered at Sundance in January of this year. The science fiction-horror film starred Goth alongside Alexander Skarsgard and Cleopatra Coleman.
