Legions of horror fans love the Hell House LLC films. The first movie burned its way into our hearts back in 2016, when it became available to watch on Shudder, Amazon Video and other streaming platforms.

In 2018, Hell House LLC II: The Abaddon Hotel was released as a Shudder Exclusive, followed by Hell House LLC: Lake of Fire the following year. The availability of all three films on the same platform created an even larger fan base, and ever since then, we have been clamoring for more of the story.

The franchise creator/director Stephen Cognetti has been promising just that for a few years now, and he made an announcement on Twitter just two days ago that he is following through on that promise. That’s right, Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor is officially on its way!

Cognetti’s tweet consisted of a simple two-word phrase: “Day 1”, above the photo of a clapboard featuring the Hell House Origins logo. In the background is a large manor.

Terror films describes the new film as follows:

"In the first chapter of what will become known as the Hell House LLC Origin Films, a group of cold case investigators stay at the Carmichael Manor, site of the grisly and unsolved murders of the Carmichael family back in the eighties. After four nights, the group was never heard from again. What is discovered on their footage is even more disturbing than anything found on the Hell House tapes."

All three existing found footage/mockumentary Hell House LLC films (plus Hell House LLC – The Director’s Cut) can currently be seen on Tubi, the original film is currently on Shudder, and the first two films are also available on SCREAMBOX.

For the uninitiated, the first film tells the story of a group of friends who stage a popular haunted attraction every year at Halloween. In 2009, the Hell House attraction was held for the first time outside of the city, at an abandoned hotel. On opening night, tragedy struck and and 15 tour-goers, plus all but one of the staff members died. As shown through a “documentary” and film footage taken by the Hell House staff members, we get an idea as to what happened, and it’s pretty frightening.

Those of us who have been avid horror fans for many years sometimes find that it takes a pretty intense film to actually give us the heebie-jeebies, and for me at least, the HHLLC films (particularly the first one) did the job. There are a couple of scenes involving a clown prop that are especially effective.

Although no firm release date has been announced, Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor is expected to hit Shudder sometime in fall of this year. Shudder typically has a robust October schedule, and that would be the perfect time to debut the new chapter.

Next. Shudder in May; French Extremity and Fangoria's Chainsaw Awards. dark
