SCREAMBOX adds Vietnamese horror film Ancestral in May
By Carla Davis
SCREAMBOX has a brand new batch of horror that will be available to stream in May, ranging from originals to old favorites. Here’s what you can expect to see on SCREAMBOX this month.
First up is SCREAMBOX original The Ancestral, which will be available on May 2. In this Vietnamese film, a man moves his two daughters to an ancestral house to help the family recover from the death of his wife. While there, they are haunted by hallucinations and visions. The terrifying phenomena of sleep paralysis is examined, as is the effect of trauma on family life.
Project Wolf Hunting hits SCREAMBOX on May 15. In this sci-fi action/thriller mashup, a group of extradited criminals is transported by sea after a suicide attack disrupted the last extradition at the airport. An escape attempt results in a deadly, bloody riot, but that’s not the worse thing. They have unknowingly released an evil presence from below deck.
May 23 brings Creepypasta exclusively to SCREAMBOX. A horror anthology film examining viral stories, this one finds a man trying desperately to escape an old abandoned house.
The Barn Part II will join The Barn on May 26. This “throwback slasher” stars horror royalty Doug Bradley (Hellraiser), Linnea Quigley (The Return of the Living Dead), Lloyd Kaufman (The Toxic Avenger) Ari Lehman (Friday the 13th) and The Last Drive-In host Joe Bob Briggs.
80s cult classic Night of the Demons can be streamed beginning May 26. A group of high school kids make the unfortunate decision to throw a party at a funeral party on the night of Halloween. Bad decision number two involves a séance, which releases a demon.
Other films coming to SCREAMBOX in May include:
Meatcleaver Massacre
Blood Harvest
Hitcher in the Dark
Silent Madness
Auntie Lee’s Meat Pies
In Search of Bigfoot
It’s likely that additional films will also be available this month, so keep your eyes open for more releases! For information on subscribing to SCREAMBOX, visit their website.
