Gemini actors and the horror movies they’re in

To all my fellow Geminis, it’s our season! If you’re unfamiliar – those with a Gemini zodiac sign were born sometime between May 21 and June 20. Whether you believe in astrology or not, it can be fun to analyze yourself and your personality traits in comparison to those who share the same sign.

People who fall under the Gemini zodiac are said to be outgoing, impulsive, youthful, smart, and gossipy. Here are some famous Gemini actors and the horror movies they’ve starred in. We sure have some great movies to watch this season!

The only May Gemini on this list is Helena Bonham Carter, born on May 26.

To celebrate Helena Bonham Carter and one of the best musicals ever made, you have to watch Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007). The movie plunges you into old London which is dark, eerie, and filled with terrible people. A man returns to London after wrongful imprisonment; he seeks revenge as he works with a woman to kill people and bake their flesh into pies.

Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein (1994) is another horror romance to add to your watchlist. The film is a fantastic adaptation of the classic story of Dr. Frankenstein and his monstrous creation. You should watch this movie not only for Helena Bonham Carter but also for Robert De Niro’s portrayal of the creature!

Danielle Harris, child star of the Halloween franchise, was born on June 1.

You’ll remember this Gemini as the young orphaned daughter of Laurie Strode in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988). The movie takes place after the off-screen death of Laurie Strode and follows her eight-year-old daughter as she is stalked by Michael Myers. Harris returns as Jamie Lloyd, traumatized from the events of the prior movie, in Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989).

As an adult, Danielle Harris remained a part of the Halloween story, playing Annie Brackett in Rob Zombie’s Halloween (2007) and Halloween ll (2009) – available for free on Amazon Prime.

The amazingly talented Natalie Portman was born on June 9.

Natalie portman has been a part of every film genre, which means this Gemini has some pretty killer horror movies. Black Swan (2010) is a thriller about an unstable ballerina who becomes obsessed with perfection as she works on her big performance. You can watch it on Hulu!

Annihilation (2018) also stars Natalie Portman. In this action horror, she plays a biologist who takes part in the exploration of a mysterious place that doesn’t follow the rules of nature. Written and directed by Alex Garland (28 Days Later, Men), Annihilation is available on Paramount Plus.

The prolific horror actor Adrienne Barbeau was born on June 11.

The fabulous Gemini Adrienne Barbeau stars in John Carpenter’s The Fog (1980). The movie takes place in a small coastal town which becomes overtaken my a mysterious fog. Not only should you watch this for Barbeau, but the movie also stars scream queens Jamie Lee Curtis and her mother Janet Leigh!

You’ll have fun watching Swamp Thing (1982), a campy Wes Craven movie about a scientist who accidentally transforms into a freakish swamp monster. This cheesy sci-fi film is available for free on Tubi.

Another campy movie to watch this season is Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death (1989). If the title alone doesn’t peak your interest, keep reading to find a more serious horror movie. The story is about a feminist professor who enters a jungle to make contact with an all female tribe… a tribe who sees men as a meal! It’s available for free on Amazon Prime and Tubi.

I couldn’t leave out Two Evil Eyes (1990), the expert film adaptation of classic Edgar Allan Poe stories. Barbeau stars in George A. Romero’s segment The Facts in the Case of Mr. Valdemar, but the movie also features a segment by Dario Argento (Deep Red, Suspiria) called The Black Cat. This is a must watch and it’s available on Tubi and Roku

Also starring this Gemini legend is a low budget, underrated horror movie called The Convent (2000). The movie is about college kids who break into an old convent and become plagued by demonic spirits. I recommend you give this movie a chance and stream it on Amazon Prime and Tubi.

Star of the Scream franchise Courtney Cox was born on June 15.

We’re all familiar with Gemini icon Courtney Cox, especially due to her icon role as Gale Weathers in the Scream series. You probably already know what Scream is about, but just in case – a small town becomes overwhelmed with murders as a mysterious Ghostface killer runs rampant. Every movie is very meta and loves to discuss horror tropes as they find out which of their friends could be Ghostface.

Interestingly, Courtney Cox is the only actor to have been in every Scream movie. Scream (1996), Scream 2 (1997), and Scream 3 (2000) are available on Paramount Plus – as is Scream (2022) and Scream Vl (2023). Unfortunately, you’ll have to go to another platform to stream Scream 4 (2011), currently available on Starz.

Hollywood darling Nicole Kidman was born on June 20 – the final day of Gemini season.

A great horror movie starring this Gemini queen is Dead Calm (1989). Its about a couple who decide to take time to themselves alone at sea after a tragic experience. After they save a lone man whose ship had sunk, they begin to question if they made the right choice.

I’m sure you’ve heard of The Others (2001), a gothic slow-burn of ghostly proportions. In an old, dark mansion, a mother waits for the return of her husband from war as her two sick children fear that their home is haunted.

Lastly, consider watching The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017) – a disturbing horror mystery which follows a surgeon who takes a teen boy under his wing, only to be faced with terror as things turn sinister. Prepare to be unsettled when you stream this film on Paramount Plus.
