In Episode 4 of The Horror of Dolores Roach, the story picks up where we left off. It becomes clear that the officers pursuing Luis are actually customers waiting outside the store. Jonah Pearlman, the landowner’s son, is not afraid like the others. He wants to discuss Luis’ unpaid rent and the property purchase. When asked about negotiations with Gideon, Luis lies and says they recently spoke.
Jonah seems unsure about the details but chooses to believe him. Then, Luis brings up Mr. Pearlman’s vacation and even offers Jonah an empanada made with his own father’s meat. Dolores, startled by Luis’ strange behavior, confronts him. He admits that he wants to remain unnoticed. In response, Dolores sets the remaining empanadas on fire.
Feeling the need for a fresh start and afraid of what Luis might do, Dolores decides to go back to school to earn her degree. She wants to escape from Luis and doesn’t want to go back to jail. She visits her old school and runs into a former classmate, Georgina Bellyard, who is now a professor at the university. Dolores wants information to apply but can’t talk to Georgina. Later, she encounters her rival, Marcie, at the eatery. Marcie believes Dolores has stolen her clients due to the long queues outside Dolores’ shop.
Dolores tries to convince Marcie that she has changed and is now a legitimate masseuse, no longer involved in illegal activities. As a friendly gesture, she offers Marcie a therapeutic massage to prove her point. Dolores begins massaging Marcie in the basement. Marcie asks about Dolores’ business and how she got started. Dolores mentions Tabitha, a former cellmate who taught her everything. She also expresses her desire to get away for some peace and quiet.
Marcie admires Dolores’ determination and offers to help her. However, flustered by Marcie’s comments, Dolores asks for a short break. When she returns, she finds Marcie going through her belongings. Marcie believes Dolores runs a drug operation and wants to find evidence that Dolores is deceiving her and stealing her clients. She starts destroying Dolores’ massage table, thinking the drugs are hidden underneath the foam mattress.
Devastated by the destruction of her table, Dolores loses control and attacks Marcie. She strangles her to death and snaps her neck. As Dolores leaves the basement, she discovers Caleb interviewing Luis for his podcast. She nervously tells Luis that there’s a new delivery for him in the basement, hinting at another murder. Feeling anxious, Dolores leaves the crime scene, knowing she’s headed back to jail but not planning to turn herself in. She wants to reunite with her old cellmate.
Dolores keeps Tabitha updated on her life outside and discusses Luis’ house and her massage therapy practice. Then, Dolores makes a veiled reference to murder and asks Tabitha for help in finding Dominic. Dolores is devastated by Dominic’s betrayal and wants to seek revenge by killing him.
