If you love Spirit Halloween, love the film Trick ‘r Treat, and love Funko POP! figures, all of your favorite things are now melded into one awesome Halloween trifecta. That’s right, Spirit Halloween has rolled out another great spooky season collectible.

In 2023 alone, Spirit Halloween has given us Funko POP! movie moments collectibles for The Corpse Bride and Killer Clowns from Outer Space, plus great new animatronics. Now they have announced the debut of a Sam Funko POP! figure. We all know Sam, right? He’s the cute homicidal pajamaed character from Michael Dougherty’s 2007 love letter to the Halloween holiday.

Trick ‘r Treat was a Halloween anthology film criminally robbed of a theatrical run. There are several theories as to why, but it was likely because the studio was nervous about how to market a holiday film in which several children are killed. It is an odd mixture of charming, creepy, amusing and genuinely scary, but it works so well! In the years since, Trick ‘r Treat has become a Halloween tradition for many of us. I have always maintained that it is the holiday film that best encompasses Halloween, from its beautiful cinematography to its explanations of the history and traditions of “Samhain.”

Now, I don’t really consider myself a Funko POP! super-collector, but I do have a small, carefully curated selection of the figures. I have Dark Willow from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, three Firefly characters and a Trick ‘r Treat Sam…but this Sam is a bit different.

I am saving a place on my lil’ shelf for this one, which is a 3.5” tall rendition of Sam, featuring flocked texture on his orange pajamas. Of course, he is also sporting his burlap face covering and carrying one of his sweet, yet deadly treats.
