Hulu gets lucky with Leprechaun 30th anniversary film collection
By Carla Davis
Cult classic horror film Leprechaun has been entertaining fans since the first film released in 1993. Since that time, seven additional films have joined the franchise, and beginning next month, you will be able to watch all of them on the same streaming platform.
As part of their Huluween celebration, Hulu is releasing the 30th Anniversary Film Collection on October 1. If you are feeling lucky, you can watch the following films in the horror comedy series:
Leprechaun (1993)- Warwick Davis starred as Lubdan in the first film, joined by then unknown actress Jennifer Anniston as teenager Tory. When Dan O’Grady stole Lubdan’s pot of gold, he sought revenge by killing the man’s wife. O’Grady then trapped Lubdan in a crate, using a magical four-leaf clover to keep him there. Ten years later, Tory and her Dad move into O’Grady’s farmhouse, and a group of kids accidently free Lubdan.
Leprechaun 2 (1994) – Warwick Davis returned to play Lubdan again in the second film, which also features Clint Howard. This time around, the plotline involves the evil Lubdan searching for both his gold AND a bride.
Leprechaun 3 (1995) – The third installment went straight to video, even though Davis returned to play the role he originated. This one also featured Caroline Williams (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2). Lubdan goes to Vegas, where his homicidal nature comes out, resulting in lots of killings.
Leprechauns in spaaaacceee…
Leprechaun 4: In Space (1997) – Poor Warwick Davis – this time around, Lubdan stows aboard a spaceship to terrorize a Marine crew. Once again, he is searching for a bride.
Leprechaun in the Hood (2000) – When some hoodlums steal Lubdan’s magical flute, they accidentally free the evil little man. Lubdan goes on a killing spree in search of his stolen instrument.
Leprechaun: Back 2 the Hood (2003) – This standalone sequel was Warwick Davis’s last time playing the title character. Lubdan wreaks havoc in an urban area in search of his stolen gold.
Leprechaun: Origins (2014) – More reboot than actual sequel, the most recent film features more traditional horror than its predecessors. A couple backpacking throughout Ireland get up close and personal with an actual leprechaun…and he’s not the cute, goofy Lucky Charms guy.
