The Return of the Living Dead doc, and more horror coming to SCREAMBOX
By Carla Davis
SCREAMBOX is bringing out some big guns for October, including new horror documentary More Brains: A Return to the Living Dead.
The doc is an up close and personal look at the making of cult classic horror film The Return of the Living Dead. It joins the other great horror documentaries on SCREAMBOX.
More Brains comes to SCREAMBOX on October 3, and includes interviews and commentary with stars Linnea Quigley, Clu Gulager, Don Calfa, James Karen and Thom Mathews, along with an interview with director Dan O’Bannon.
Other films and series joining SCREAMBOX in October include the following:
Shaky Shivers (October 17) – This campy films is ‘80s-inspired, and gives us two women visiting an old camp in the woods. It probably wasn’t wise to bring along a book of spells, but there you have it.
HeBGB TV (October 13)– This fast-paced story of a weird cable box that self-installs into a neighborhood includes puppets, musical numbers and even lesbian possessions.
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer – This gritty 1986 film features Michale Rooker in his film debut as the title character. Loosely based on the story of Henry Lee Lucas and Ottis Toole, it’s one of those films that feels so real that you feel dirty just watching it.
Door (October 24) – This film harkens back to 1988, and was never screened outside of Japan until it went to Fantastic Fest in September. Newly remastered, the tense story involves a brutal home invasion.
Help! My In-Laws are Vampires (premieres exclusively on SCREAMBOX October 31) – This Italian horror/comedy compares itself to The Addams Family and The Munsters.
Willow Creek – Directed by Bobcat Goldwait, Willow Creek is a found footage-style movie about Bigfoot.
Landlocked – While on a visit to his childhood home, which is being demolished, Mason discovers a VHS camera that allows him to look into his past.
Emelie – When Anna sets out to babysit three kids, she is kidnapped by Emelie, who shows up claiming to be the babysitter.
Possum – A disgraced puppeteer goes back to the house he grew up in, where he comes face-to-face with his evil stepfather.
The Barn – It’s Halloween night in 1989, and two friends get together for a few laughs. It’s all fun and games until they accidentally unleash an evil curse.
