Zombie lovers, we've got some good news for you! A new zombie horror flick is currently in the works, and it's a little different than your typical outbreak story. This one's set in a medieval world where a secluded monastery becomes ground zero for a terrifying plague. And you won't believe who’s leading the charge!

The movie's titled Rapture, which in itself hints at a dark twist on the apocalypse. Elevation Pictures, 2AM, and Brookstreet Pictures are all behind this new zombie project as producers. Elevation Pictures is known for previously being behind the sci-fi horror Infinity Pool, while 2AM produced the horror flicks Bodies Bodies Bodies and The Front Room. On the other hand, Brookstreet Pictures is best known for producing A24's epic period drama The Brutalist.

Jordan Tannahill, who was a writer and executive producer on the drama series The Listeners, takes the helm of his first feature film with this zombie movie. Eli Arenson will be the director of photography. He previously held this same position on the critically acclaimed folk horror film Lamb. The cameras are reportedly set to start rolling on Rapture later this year in Hungary. In addition, HanWay Films will be introducing the film to potential buyers at the upcoming Cannes market.

Rapture will see three well-known Netflix stars in one movie together. Black Mirror's Will Poulter, Heartstopper's Kit Connor, and Elite's Manu Ríos will all star in this chilling medieval zombie horror. Poulter and Connor previously starred together in the war film Warfare, but this will be the first time they work together with Ríos. Unfortunately, their roles are currently undisclosed, but we do know what the movie will be about.

We're taken to Medieval England in 1348, where a remote monastery in Yorkshire becomes the epicenter of a devastating plague that transforms the lives of the monks who inhabit it, forcing them to confront a world overrun by the undead and torn apart by moral dilemmas. This already seems like an intriguing premise, and with Poulter, Connor, and Ríos leading the cast, we're even more excited to see how this chilling mix of historical drama and zombie horror plays out on screen.

Here's the official plot details provided by Deadline:

"Set in Medieval England in the year 1348, the story alights on Lansley Abbey, a remote stone monastery in Yorkshire, which houses ten monks bound by a life of strict routine and devotion. Their fragile peace is disrupted by the arrival of a messenger – a man with haunting news from the outside world who rapidly shows symptoms of a mystery illness. A virulent plague is spreading through the land: marked initially by a hemorrhagic fever, it turns its victims into “revenants” — restless, undead beings.

As the contagion closes in, Lansley Abbey becomes a battleground: desperate outsiders beg for refuge while the infected threaten to overrun its walls. The monks are torn apart by a moral rift — between those who believe they must care for the sick and those who want to protect the centuries of knowledge safe-guarded by the monastery. As death is fully unleashed, so too is the brothers’ capacity for extraordinary acts of altruism and ruthless betrayal, forcing them to confront the ultimate question: what does it mean to be human?"

Sadly, this is all that has been revealed about Rapture so far. We'll be sure to keep you posted on any new information that is released. But for now, you'll have to stay tuned to 1428 Elm!
