This year is shaping up to be an exciting one for horror fans with numerous big movies on the horizon along with books, TV shows, and video games. The following list highlights some of the games we're most looking forward to playing this year, including the next Dark Pictures Anthology installment, a new Five Nights at Freddy's game, and more!
Note that there are many other horror games expected to come out this year, but these are the few that have set release dates at the moment.
Killing Floor 3
- Release date: March 25 on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation
Get ready to dismember and mow down as many Zeds as possible in this exciting and blood-splattered follow-up to the 2016 game. The latest entry in this popular co-op shooter franchise series. Set 70 years after Killing Floor 2, specifically in the year 2091, publisher Tripwire Interactive has said this game will return to the darker and grittier elements of the first game. And don't worry, the M.E.A.T. System is gnarlier than ever.
Killing Floor 2 was rather notable for switching gears in terms of maturity, with an overall lighter tone than the first installment which some gamers didn't like. It sounds like the developers have learned from some of the criticism levied at the sequel to make Killing Floor 3 the best entry yet.
Directive 8020
- Release date: October 2 on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC
The next entry in the Dark Pictures Anthology by Supermassive Games will be released this October, just in time for Halloween. Produced by the people who gave us Until Dawn and The Quarry, Directive 8020 promises to be another terrifying and cinematic horror experience. With earth dying, a colony ship takes off in search of a potential new home. But when they crash land on another planet, they discover they're not alone and an alien capable of mimicking its prey is hunting down the survivors.
