Psychological thrillers make for compelling television. Many of the most popular TV shows over the years have been thrillers or mysteries of some kind. People love trying to work out the story before the grand reveal. Netflix, in particular, loves producing psychological thriller series and is home to many based on Harlan Coben books and other novels.
The following list highlights five more upcoming psychological thriller shows we cannot wait to watch, with almost all of them being based on books and coming to Netflix.

The Woman in Cabin 10
- Cast: Keira Knightley, Guy Pearce, Hannah Waddingham, Kaya Scodelario, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw
- Coming to Netflix, Fall 2025
The Woman in Cabin 10 is one of many psychological thriller series coming to Netflix and likely one of the few to debut this year from this list. Based on Ruth Ware's popular novel of the same name, The Woman in Cabin 10 stars Keira Knightley as a journalist onboard a luxury cruise where she witnesses what she believes is a murder.
After spotting someone tossing a passenger overboard, the reporter begins her investigation. The problem is, come morning, all of the passengers are present. Netflix has revealed that the series will premiere this fall. Book fans also have an upcoming sequel novel to look forward to, with The Woman in Suite 11 debuting this summer.

We Were Liars
- Cast: Emily Alyn Lind, Shubham Maheshwari, Esther McGregor, Joseph Zada, Caitlin FitzGerald, Mamie Gummer, Candice King, Rahul Kohli, and David Morse
- Coming to Prime Video, June 18
We Were Liars is an adaptation of E. Lockhart's acclaimed book of the same name. It also happens to be the only show we've featured on Prime Video rather than Netflix. We Were Liars also already has a June release date, meaning it will be here before you know it!
The upcoming mystery thriller series features eight episodes and follows Cadence Sinclair Eastman and her inner circle of friends, nicknamed the "Liars." The series follows them during their summer trip on a private island in New England, where a mysterious accident occurs and changes everything forever. Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries) and Carina Adly MacKenzie (Roswell, New Mexico) wrote the series and serve as co-showrunners and executive producers.

Dead Letters
- Cast: Lucy Hale
- Coming to Netflix, TBA
Deadline recently reported that Netflix had landed the rights to Caite Dolan-Leach's 2017 novel Dead Letters. The upcoming thriller drama series will star Lucy Hale (Pretty Little Liars) as twin sisters Ava and Zelda, both to be played by Hale, who also executive produces. Alex Cooper of Call Her Daddy fame will produce with her company Unwell Productions alongside Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan.
Picking up in the aftermath of Zelda's death, Ava returns home to her family's vineyard and tries to figure out the mystery of who murdered her identical twin sister. Making things even more mysterious is that Zelda was already aware she was in trouble, so she left "dead letters" for her sister to find. It sounds a little like 13 Reasons Why and the tapes left behind by Hannah.
Wayward
- Cast: Mae Martin, Brandon Jay McLaren, Sarah Gadon, Patrick J. Adams, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Patrick Gallagher, Sydney Topliffe, Joshua Close, and Toni Collette
- Coming to Netflix, 2025
Comedian Mae Martin and Ryan Scott co-created this miniseries about the "troubled teen industry," specifically a therapeutic school in a small town and the darkness residing within. Martin also stars in the show alongside Sarah Gadon, Patrick J. Adams, Alyvia Alyn Lind, and Toni Collette.
Wayward takes place in a seemingly idyllic small town, hiding dark secrets. Filming took place in the summer of 2024, and Netflix released the first sneak peek for Wayward this past January, so it should be released later this year.

His & Hers
- Cast: Tessa Thompson, Jon Bernthal, Pablo Schreiber, Crystal Fox, Sunita Mani, and Rebecca Rittenhouse
- Coming to Netflix, TBA
Another mystery/thriller series based on a novel, His & Hers, is a new Southern suspense series starring Tessa Thompson, Jon Bernthal, Pablo Schreiber, and more. The series is being adapted from Alice Feeney's book, which is of the same name, and Jessica Chastain also serves as an executive producer.
Set in Atlanta, Thompson plays a former news anchor named Anna, who finds herself thrust back into the spotlight when she becomes intrigued by the investigation into a nearby murder. But Anna's interest piques the attention of a detective on the case.
