42. The Invitation

After the accidental death of their son, Will and Eden were unable to cope and were divorced. The story in The Invitation picks up two years later with Will returning to the home he once shared with Eden, and he’s bringing his new girlfriend along with him. Eden, along with her own new husband, is hosting a dinner party with multiple other guests.

After Will and his girlfriend arrive, it quickly becomes apparent that something is seriously wrong— at least in Will’s mind. Sensing something very odd and creepy about Eden and David’s behavior, and something seems off about the other guests as well. Is something horrible really happening, or is Will just going crazy dealing with the grief of losing his son?

To say too much more would spoil the story, but I will say that this is one of the better thrillers I’ve seen in recent memory.
