The horror world has missed Wes Craven desperately since his death in 2015. The very last film he produced before his tragic demise was The Girl in the Photographs, a horror thriller with a very creepy and unique premise.

When a young girl named Colleen in a small, boring town receives a strange photograph of what appears to be a murdered woman, she’s not quite sure what to make of it. Is this the work of a serial killer, or is someone playing a sick joke on her? And perhaps the bigger question is why deliver it to her, specifically?

To be honest, the movie doesn’t waste much time answering that question for the audience. We see right from the start what’s really going on, and it’s just a matter of seeing how Colleen reacts to it. When the police do nothing (as they always do in horror movies), she pushes it to the back of her mind— but soon finds herself and her friends targeted by the mysterious photographer.

While the interesting premise of the flick will keep you watching to the end, there are some issues with the story that keep this from being as awesome as it could have been. But it’s a solid watch and recommended if you want to see something different.
